Bumpdate | Week 28

How far along? 28 weeks, 1 day. Officially in the third trimester! (Sorry for the grainy picture, but it was a busy weekend with a lot of rain.)

Size of baby: Baby is the size of an eggplant.

Gender: Baby Girl :)

Weight Gain: A little more than 13 pounds. Real talk: sometimes I worry that I am not gaining enough weight. I am still growing so it is probably not an issue.

Symptoms: I think I have been having some braxton hicks contractions. Every so often my stomach will tighten up and get really hard. It does not really hurt its just uncomfortable and feels weird. I also had a day last week where I just felt "off". I don't really know how to explain it, but it was mostly that I was super uncomfortable and my back and belly hurt pretty bad. I found that if I took pressure off my back I was able to actually feel comfortable. This lead to some interesting sitting positions at work. Other than that I have just been really tired, but that could be a result of our crazy schedules lately.

Movement: Baby girl moves all the time now. I can feel her kicking, but can also feel her wiggling. My favorite is when I am laying in bed and I can feel her push off one side of my belly and then feel her hit the opposite side. So cool! Richard can also feel her moving in addition to kicking now days. He does not doubt wether she is actually moving anymore. Most of the time I can see her moving when I watch my belly.

Sleep: Sleep has been mostly good. I have the occasional night where I have troubles sleeping, but for the most part it has been good. I still consistently wake up 1-2 times a night to go to the bathroom, but I can usually fall back to sleep easily.

Nursery Progress: Notice the new category? We have finally started making progress on the nursery! We were not sure if we were going to do this before baby gets here because of how far it is away from our room. But the more I thought about it the more I realized that we should get it ready now since we have time and we can figure out our short term plan from there. We may end up bringing the crib and dresser down to our room, but we will see how we feel at the time. The only progress we have made so far is that we bought and built a dresser! I then organized and filled the dresser with all of the baby clothes we have so far.
Baby Purchases: I went a little crazy recently, but I had some money left from Christmas so I bought a few cute items. First, I bought these cute bows from AnnMarieAccessories on Etsy. I found these a while back, but I looked at them recently and when I realized they were half off I decided to buy seven headbands. So cute! Richard is all paranoid about headbands hurting her head, but these have a super stretchy band that I made him feel so that he would not disapprove. I also bought the crib sheets I picked out a while back that go with the theme of the nursery. I know I will need some extras, but I figure I can get some other cheaper ones that don't match the theme quite as well. We also bought this cute bib when we were in West Texas this past weekend. I found it and I could not resist.
Best Moment This Week: A little over a week ago, I finally made the decision to quit my job. I have known for a while I was going to do that and my goal had been to make it to Christmas. I am glad I made the decision when I did because work has only gotten worse over the last week and a half and it is better for me knowing that my time is limited. My last day is on Wednesday!

Looking Forward To: My baby shower! I am heading back to Minnesota on Thursday and my baby shower is on Saturday. I can't wait to celebrate this little girl with my friends and family!
