Long Weekend in Minnesota

Recovering from mini-vacations takes a lot longer these days. Especially the mini trip we had to Minnesota since it was jam packed with fun. So it has taken me a while to get to this update, but whatever. Such is life these days.

Anyway, Richard, my little sister and I decided to make a trip to Minnesota last weekend. We spent all day Thursday driving and arrived in Minnesota late on Thursday night. We were all exhausted by the time we made it there which lead to an early bedtime.
Friday morning, I went with my friend Sammi to the Tom's warehouse sale in Minneapolis. We scored on some great deals and it was fun to scope out the best shoes.
After that, I headed to my older sister's house to help her set up for my nephew's birthday party that was scheduled for Saturday morning. Once we got as much done as possible, I headed over to my friend's house for game night. We always have game night when we come to town these days because it is a nice and fun way to see my friends. We played Telestrations after dark. Which is basically a combination of pictionary and telephone, but the more adult version. It was hilarious and entertaining so much so that I forgot to take a single picture. Whoops. I also got to meet one of my best friend's new baby that was born in June! Such a cutie.

Saturday was super busy. We woke up early and headed back to my sister's house to finish setting up for the birthday party. My sister had a Dino Hunter theme and it was super cute. I will probably do a separate post on the party, but here is a sneak peek.
After the party, I took a much needed nap while the rest of my family played cards. Then, we headed to my cousin's house to meet the newest baby of our family. One of my cousins and his wife just had a baby in August and since they live in the Milwaukee area, they visited Minnesota and everyone was able to meet the new baby. Super fun! Remember when we visited them? It is always nice to see my extended family and this was the first we saw any of them since we announced we are pregnant. Also, Richard looks pretty good with a baby on his chest I have to say.
Sunday morning I took some pictures as a part of my photography business and then I headed over to where Richard's family lives. All together, we went to pick some pumpkins from a local pumpkin patch. After doing research in Texas, I came to realize that legitimate pumpkin patches don't exist around here. Pumpkins thrown on a green lawn in a cute display is their form of a pumpkin patch. So we wanted to go to a real pumpkin patch while we were in town. At this place, you walk out to their patch and then you pick pumpkins off the vine. They even had a corn maze and some other fun displays, including gourds that we picked out to bring home. After the patch, we headed back to the house for dinner followed by a fire outside with s'mores. My kind of night!
Monday was our last full day in Minnesota. I spent the morning with my niece and nephew and sisters by going to the Minnesota Zoo. It was nice to be there on a week day because it was super empty and since it was cooler temperatures the animals were very active. After the zoo, we met up with my dad for lunch.
After lunch, I spent some more time with my friend and her new baby by walking around the mall for a bit.
Then, Richard and I were super lucky and we got box seats to the Vikings game in Minneapolis. It was quite the adventure getting there and back. We were trying to get there early so that we could check out the stadium a bit, but Richard sliced his finger so that delayed us quite a bit. By the time we made it downtown, we barely made it to our seats before kickoff. Not to mention that I had one of my notorious headaches and Richard was in pain from his finger. But the game was so much fun and we had great seats so it was still worth every minute. Also, I love that the Vikings are doing so well this year! Its tough being a Vikings fan most of the time, but it has been so fun lately. Knock on wood.
We then spent all day Tuesday trying to get home at a decent hour since all three of us were so tired from the busy weekend. I love our trips home, but they are always packed and exhausting. Life would be so much easier if we just lived there. Hopefully soon(ish)!
