Fifth Anniversary

I am a little behind on blogging, but on August 6th, Richard and I celebrated our five year anniversary! Normally for our anniversary, we plan a fun event or trip or something to set the day apart. Well this year we had a lot going on and neither one of us had the energy to go on a weekend adventure so we decided to do a project instead. We spent the day together making memories. Not the most exciting anniversary, but it works with where we are in life so we will always have that to hold.

We started our morning out by going to the farmer's market and getting a few staples for the week ahead. We even bought what they call a laminated brioche which is a cinnamon sugar roll thing and is so delicious.
When we got back to the house, we made a plan and figured out what we needed for our project to update our master bedroom. We drove the 15 minutes to Home Depot only for Richard to realize he forgot his wallet so we had to go all the way home and all the way back. By that time I was hungry so we decided to go to Panera Bread first and then head to Home Depot. Once we were actually at the store, we gathered all the supplies we needed and headed back to the house. By the time we got back to the house we only had a few hours before we had somewhere to be so we accomplished what we could in a short amount of time. Then we ran a few errands, decided on a low key dinner at our favorite pizza place and headed back to the house to start working on our project more. I will do a whole separate post on that when we are done with it.

Since we were doing work in the bedroom, we had to take our bed apart and we ended up creating a temporary bed in the living room while the bedroom was under construction. It ended up being kind of fun to be able to curl up in the bed and watch Harry Potter together before drifting off to sleep. We don't have a TV in our room and we don't ever plan on getting one so it was a different experience for us and it was a nice way to end our anniversary.
The next day, we finished the project up and it took most of the day. Then we cleaned up and headed out for our anniversary dinner Maggiano's Italian Restaurant. We went there for our anniversary last year and enjoyed it and plus it was close to where we wanted to go to take our anniversary picture.
Once we finished dinner, we headed to a nearby park to set up the tripod and take our annual anniversary picture. It is always funny when we do that because we get looks, but we don't care anymore. I love being able to look through these pictures through the years. Here are our annual pictures from the last five years!
First Anniversary
Second Anniversary
Third Anniversary
Fourth Anniversary
Fifth Anniversary
Update: We totally knew we were pregnant on our fifth anniversary, but we had just found out and were not ready to share just yet! But, we took a picture to remember it and this is our official 5th anniversary picture! <3
So fun to be able to compare the pictures through the years! Can't wait to see what the pictures will look like as the years continue to go by. It is hard to believe it has already been five years. These past five years have held some of our hardest trials in our lives, but the good news is we made it through them and these next years hold so much potential! So exciting!
