Christmas Baking

This weekend was Richard and I's weekend to celebrate Christmas here together in Louisiana. We have a few traditions for Christmas so I wanted to make sure we were able to squeeze it in before we head to Minnesota.

Saturday morning we had big plans to head to an outdoor market that they had last year. We had a lot of fun and we were both looking forward to it. Well we got there and it was a big bust. We were both super disappointed that it was so small compared to last year. We couldn't figure out if it was supposed to be a different weekend and we just missed it or if was just not as big this year.

After our morning plans were ruined, we decided to move forward with the plan for the rest of our weekend. Cookies! Each year we spend a weekend baking bunches and bunches of cookies. This year we made four different kinds: gingerbread, peanut butter blossoms, macaroons and Mexican wedding cakes. The first two were my pick and the last two were Richard's.
Things got pretty messy as you can see. And for some reason I only took pictures of the gingerbread cookies. This was the final result of the macaroons, gingerbread and peanut butter blossom cookies. We have far too many cookies in our house right now and I can't stop eating them. So good.
While we were baking we listened to my favorite Christmas music and watched some of the best Christmas movies. We have a tradition to watch Elf every year together. Such a good movie!
We had a fun filled weekend and I was glad to be able to spend it with my husband! However, I am definitely ready to head to Minnesota for all of our big festivities! We leave Friday and it can not get here soon enough!
