Weekend Update | On the Bayou

I am a little behind schedule today getting the blog post up. Oh well. Please forgive me.

I am not a fan of Valentine's day so we did not do anything over the top. Richard and I went to dinner just the two of us at Applebee's because we had a gift card to use. I love the nights when it is me and him and we get to spend time without any distractions, including cell phones. We then ran some errands and came home to watch TV together. Like I said nothing fancy.

We were invited by a friend of Richard's to spend the day with him and his family where we participated in some stereotypical Louisiana activities. And we enjoyed it. I guess this whole southern thing is starting to wear off on us.
We started by celebrating Mardi Gras in our city where they had a pet parade. It was basically a bunch of really cute dogs and cats dressed up in Mardi Gras costumes. And they had a lot of pets ready to be adopted. Super cute. I did not have a great view so this is the best picture I got.
We then spent the afternoon experiencing southern hospitality at its finest. Where we hung out at their house along the bayou, eating and talking. They were super sweet and I forget how welcoming people around here can be. It was fun to see. The weather was perfect while we sat outside. Look how gorgeous.
We then ate home-made chicken and sausage jambalaya. Another typical Louisiana dish.
And after dinner we went to the local Mardi Gras parade where I got a bunch more beads. I think my collection is large enough now.

We both spent the day catching up on work needing to be done. I got started on my special project that I hinted at last weekend. And let's just say my arms are sore today from all the painting.

We had another beautiful day so we took advantage of it by heading out for a walk. Paisley puppy will do anything but look at me when I am trying to take her picture.
I am glad that the nice weather came for the weekend. The lawn outside our apartment got super muddy from the last week of rain/ice. We are moving into the best time of year in Louisiana before the summer hits and it is too hot to go outside. We have to enjoy it while we can!

This weekend was pretty relaxing and I would not want it any other way. I even went to bed at a decent hour both nights and I was happy to catch up on my sleep. Now hopefully I will have a productive week so I can continue to get stuff done!
