2014 In Numbers

With 2014 coming to a close I have a few posts to take a look at the last year. It has been a crazy busy year and I would not have it any other way. 2014 was definitely the year of travel for us. I have put together an infographic that represents a bunch of numbers for the last year. It was so much fun to do and I hope you enjoy! I'll be back next week with what we have been up to these last few weeks. Hoping to enjoy these last few days in Minnesota before I continue blogging as usual!

Time for Minnesota

Whew. This week has been a whirlwind. From our fantastic news yesterday, to Richard being in Dallas for two days, plus we have only had one car this week. I have been stranded without a car for over a week, which makes everything complicated. It has been one hectic week. We are most definitely ready for our trip to Minnesota.

We are starting our trip to Minnesota today and as long as the weather cooperates, we will be there late tonight. I have so much fun stuff planned already for Minnesota. It is going to be a great time

Minnesota Bucket List:
Celebrate passing comps!
Bridesmaid dress shopping with my sister.
Flowers to my mom's grave.
Go skiing and sledding.
Celebrate Christmas at the new Holiday Market.
Hang out with some amazing friends.
Squeeze my nephew.
Spend quality time with my sisters.
Meet my sister's new dog.
Go see Santa with Richard's brothers.
Go shopping.
Watch the Lego Movie.
Go to the Cirque Du Soleil Show.
Go see my sister's new house.
See my extended family for a Christmas celebration.
Go to a ugly Christmas sweater party.
Celebrate New Year's Eve!
Spend 34 hours in a car with my husband where he has to talk to me.

Two weeks are going to go by extremely fast, but I am going to enjoy every minute I have there. So excited!

It's Over!

Well, we are officially here. Richard passed his last set of comprehensive exams! He is now what they call ABD, all but dissertation. That's right, he is done with classes and done with his exams and all he has standing between him and graduation is his dissertation.

Obviously, the dissertation process will take some time, but still. He is almost done. We are almost done. The amount of stress that has been in our house for the last six months has been unbearable. My husband has a really high need for achievement so he went above and beyond in his studying. He has been going non-stop since June. Everything revolved around comps. We have not had any real conversations since he started studying. It has been a rough few months and I am so glad it is over.

Now comes the fun part. We can start figuring out our plans for the next six months to a year. We can start dreaming about where we will end up and what we will do next. We can actually start making concrete plans. This makes my little planning heart so happy.

We have so many things to figure out and so much we can't decide on our own. It is fun to think about where we coud be in a year. The possibilities are endless. And my husband no longer has an excuse not to talk to me, ha!

We have been waiting for this day for a long time and he fact that it is finally here is surreal. Total pinch me moment happening over here. These next few days will be filled with celebrations and many, many conversations. Our 17 hour car ride to Minnesota tomorrow will be awesome!

I am so proud of my husband and all the hard work he has put into this. He is the hardest worker I know and I have no idea where he gets his endless energy from. He is one amazing guy and I am glad he is all mine. I can't wait to see how life with him turns out. It is going to be a fun adventure.

Wahoo! ABD!

December's Past

Well. It is the final month of the year, which means it is the last of my Month's past. I have really enjoyed this series, being able to look back on all the pictures and the memories. These posts always take forever, but I am so glad I did them! This one is super full of pictures so sorrynotsorry.

December 2009
-Richard and I went with his younger brothers and his mom to the Holidazzle parade. So began my love of the parade.
-Richard proposed to me in the middle of winter two days before Christmas at the place where he took me on our first date. He had wrapped the ring as a present and gave it to me in front of the frozen waterfall. It was perfect.
-Christmas with my family was spent hanging out, playing cards, making snowmen and going tubing. Perfect winter day.

December 2010
-I did not take many pictures of this Christmas. But what I do have are pictures with Christmas celebrated with my mom. And then Christmas celebrated with my dad.

December 2011
-I officially finished all of my college coursework after three and a half years. So glad to be done with that!
-Richard and I took his brothers for a night so that his parents could have a date night. We went on the light rail into Minneapolis where we then watched the Holidazzle parade and then we went to Macy's Santa land to see Santa.
-This was our first year as a married couple so this is when we started some of our traditions. We baked cookies, decorated our house, made caramel rolls and celebrated with family.

December 2012
-We headed down to New Orleans with some of our friends. Our friends Evan and Claire got engaged that weekend and we spent the rest of the time celebrating. There was a lot that happened in that weekend and it is one of my favorite weekends to date with our friends in Louisiana.
-Since we could not make it home for Christmas, Richard's little brother came to visit us for Christmas. While he was here, we headed to Duck Commander long before they did their remodel so the place was packed.

Whew. I can't believe this year is almost over. Where did it go? Hope you enjoyed this glimpse into my life as much as I did!
