Weekend Update | Cookies

Our weekend was full of cookies! I had big hopes for what we would accomplish this weekend, but it ended up being all about the cookies.

We also had a Harry Potter movie marathon. My husband was so excited that I finally agreed to watch these with him. And since I scored an awesome deal ($2 each, thanks Walmart ) on them on Black Friday, we now own all eight movies. We watched the first 5 movies this weekend. One in Friday, two on Saturday and two on Sunday. Shameful I know, but we still accomplished a lot considering how long those movies are.

We started out Saturday by running some errands, one of which being a trip to the grocery store for all of our cookie supplies. We were in the grocery store for about 5 minutes when all of a sudden the whole store went black and you could not see a thing. After 30 seconds you could hear the generator kick back on and all the lights came on, but all the coolers were not powered by the generators. So we quickly finished our trip before all the stuff in the coolers went bad. We had tornado warnings and some trees fall in the area.

After the grocery trip, we then started the cookie making process. It was a constant mess that we had to keep up with.

We started by making puppy treats for our spoiled little puppy and then we made the dough for gingerbread cookies before calling it quits for the night. Oh and yes I am wearing shorts in this picture. It was 70 degrees on Saturday and we had the oven running. Even with the air conditioning on it was hot.

Meanwhile back home, my extended family was having their Christmas get together that I was not able to attend. Sad face. But I skyped with my sister and they literally passed the phone around so I was able to say hi to everyone. It was pretty funny.

We finished up making our cookies the next day. Pretty much spent the entire day baking. We made 5 different kinds of cookies total. Dog cookies for the pup, 2 kinds of gingerbread cookies, shortbread cookies and peanut butter blossoms-my favorite!

While all the baking was being done, I was able to put away a ton of laundry and my husband cleaned the kitchen. Love that man. His task for the day was to clean the kitchen so he made sure that he had it perfect by the time he was done. He even made sure to scrub all the burnt stuff of the drip pans on the stove. I had tried before but it never worked but he was able to do it. Gotta love his hard work.

He then finished the night by making my mom's pasta sauce. My mom's recipes are not the easiest to follow and Richard was arguing with them. For example, my mom's recipe says to add 5 "big shakes" of italian seasoning, basil and oregano. And Richard said that there is basil and oregano in the italian seasoning so why not just add more italian seasoning. Nope. Follow the recipe like my mom wrote it.

I also finished reading my most recent book True Blue. It was a really goo read although it was a little predictable.

So we had a pretty busy weekend that went by way too fast. Today I have to work, but then we will get another "weekend" starting tomorrow. Cannot wait for all of our Christmas plans and traditions!
