A Christmas Filled Weekend

This weekend was amazing. I spent the entire weekend with my husband, just the two of us. Those are my favorite kinds of weekends. Especially considering while we were home in Minnesota for two weeks we hardly saw each other.

Friday
We had a very relaxing night eating dinner and watching TV. We watched one of the movies we purchased on Black Friday, White House Down. It was a decent movie, although sort of predictable. Oh well, we still enjoyed it.

Saturday
We had a big day planned. We headed down to Natchitoches (try pronuncing that one) for their annual Christmas festival. I got the local scoop from one of the police officers that works security where I work since he grew up there. It was about a two hour drive down there and we got there just in time for the second parade of the day. It was  typical Louisiana parade with a lot of  marching bands and they, of course, threw beads and candy.

After the parade we walked around a little bit and checked out the cute vendors that were around. We ended up buying a notebook for me to start a journal and these three snowman made out of wood.

We then decided to go get in line for dinner because there are only a few restaurants in town and there were a lot of people there. We got lucky and only had to wait 30 minutes to get a table. And our table was right next to the window so it was perfect. The restaurant was pretty cute too, they had street lights inside the restaurant to make it look like a street.

We tried the meat pies as an appetizer because we were told it is what they are famous for in this town. We also ate some dessert and it was delicious. After dinner we headed down to the river to get a spot for the fireworks.

After the fireworks, they turned on all the lights that were hung over the streets and along the river. These pictures do not do justice at all. I just love Christmas lights and displays. It is so much fun.

We then headed back to our apartment. After all of that, it was only 9 o'clock by the time we got home so we watched another movie together. This time we watched Hangover Part III. Definitely not as good as the first two.

Sunday
Sunday was a catch up day. My husband caught up on studying while I caught up on cleaning. Since this was the first weekend home in over three weeks, I had a lot to do. I think I broke some sort of record for the most loads of dishes done in one day, mostly because we have all kinds of Christmas dishes that have been sitting in storage for a year so they needed to be cleaned. We also finished decorating our whole house. But I think I will save those pictures for another day because this post is getting full. I will leave you with a preview of our tree that we finally put our ornaments on. It is beautiful.

I am glad that this weekend was able to get me into the Christmas spirit because I have not really been feeling it so far. And to have the main level of my house completely clean always makes me feel so happy. Now I just have to keep up with it until next weekend. Hope everybody had a great weekend.
