Weekend Update

This weekend was a rough one. The cohort ahead of my husband in his school program got some pretty bad news on Friday. And since we love all of them it hurt us too. It had an effect on the entire weekend. So this will be an update on some of the things we did this weekend plus what has been happening that I forgot to mention. Oops.

-I finished another scrapbook page. This one was fun because the white square you see in the background can be pulled out and it has the story of the pictures written on it. The story was too long to fit on the page so I decided to hide it. That is the first time I have done that and it was kinda fun. Only one more page and adding a few more stories to other pages and I am done with my 2010 scrapbook! Feeling accomplished.

-I put up our fall decorations a few weeks ago. I love that I can pretend to have pretty colors and a beautiful fall inside my house.

-We went for a walk for the first time in a few weeks. My husband has been crazy busy with school that we have not had time. We are hoping to get back on track this week.

-I made my mom's spanish rice and beans recipe yesterday. It was delicious- one of the best I have ever made. I was afraid it was not going to turn out because I thought I added too much water but it was perfect. And I always end up with a big mess when I make it because it involves so many steps.

-I finally finished the book I had been reading since May. I stopped reading for a while there because I could not concentrate long enough to read for more than 30 seconds. But I started again and I can finally say I finished. I was reading the book Love and Respect by Emerson Eggerichs. I love that book and I would highly recommend it to an couple that wants to strengthen their relationship.

I hope you had a better weekend than we did. Hopefully this week goes by quick since I will be seeing my family and a lot of other people this weekend!

Dear Nephew I get to see you one week from tomorrow. I can't wait to see you crawl and kiss your face. Six Years

Tuesday was Richard and I's six year anniversary of being together. It is amazing to think that we have been together six years. I feel as though the older I get the crazier it is to think about how much time has passed. I cannot believe we have been together six years. It feels like just yesterday that we met and started dating.

The past six years have been the best years of my life. It has been quite the adventure and I am excited for all that there is a head of us

This past six years we....

...went from looking like babies (left) to looking grown up (right). Well Richard looks grown up anyway.

...met in high school so we went to prom together.

...graduated high school.

...adopted our puppy.

....have been to five concerts. All of them country music. One of those concerts was a musical festival called We Fest. One other time we met my favorite person Taylor Swift.

...have travelled to many different places. New York, Boston, Cape Cod, Vermont, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Vegas(twice), Kentucky and Florida, to name a few :). engaged.

...then got married.

...went on our honeymoon.

...bought a house.

...had our first christmas together as a married couple.

...both graduated from college.

...moved from Minnesota to Louisiana.

...became an Aunt and an Uncle. picking pumpkins. the Minnesota state fair.

...enjoy winter pictures.

...celebrate anniversaries.

...and birthdays.

That is the last six years in a very condensed post. Six years together, two years of marriage. I will probably say this every year, but the time is going so fast it is hard to believe at times.

Weekend Update | Dad Came to Town

Well if you read my post from Friday, you knew that my dad was going to be in town this weekend. My husband had his annual fall conference this weekend and I invited my mom to come down and visit me that weekend. Well since my mom passed away, my dad offered to take her ticket so I would not have to spend the weekend by myself. I thought this weekend would be harder than it was, and I am glad that we were able to have fun. So here goes our weekend.

I picked my dad up from the airport around lunch time. We tried to find a local restaurant for about a half hour before we finally found it. The location in the map we were using was completely wrong. And when we called the restaurant, they could not explain where they were located.  After lunch I took him to work so he could meet some of my coworkers and check out the building. Then we headed over to Duck Commander, since we live so close. My dad watches the show sometimes so he wanted to check it out.

Then we did some grocery shopping and then went antique shopping where I got this cute little stool for my photography. That is right my sister, my little nephew will have his picture taken on this stool!

Then we went to dinner at Applebee's and rented the movie Olympus Has Fallen.

Saturday morning started out with us going to my company picnic. They had inflatable jumpers, rides, food and a K9 demonstration all for free. It was pretty sweet. My dad especially liked the K9 demo and he kept asking all kinds of questions. Gotta love it.

After that we went to an antique car show because my dad really wanted to go.

Then we did some more antique shopping, hung out by the pool, explored a little bit and I took him to my favorite fro-yo shop because it is delicious.

Early Sunday morning we took Paisley puppy to the dog park. It had been a while since we have gone so she was in heaven.

After that, we headed to pick up my husband from school and explored the town a little bit. Then we just hung out the rest of the day, just relaxing.

So overall we had a pretty busy weekend. I am very glad that he was able to come down in visit me. We had a great time!
