Weekend Review | Family has arrived!

I started out Friday right by going to lunch with some coworkers for our summer intern's last day. One of my coworkers ordered some crab cakes so I decided to try one.  And that completes my try 5 new things on my 101 in 1001 list! Yay!

Then after work, Richard and I hosted our monthly "family" dinner with people in his school program. I had all the supplies to make my mom's spanish rice and beans recipe. Since I was making for more than just two people I decided to triple it. And since I never triple it, I could not tell how much water to add so it ended up not turning out. Oh well. We ordered pizza instead.

After dinner we hung out and talked for a while. Then we decided to go hit up a bar by where we live since it is a bigger city and we do not go very often. 

We had a lot of fun hanging out and it was a good way to see everyone before they all disappear for these next few weeks since they all have "summer" break.

We celebrated our anniversary all day on Saturday. And the very first thing we did in the morning was open a checking account at a local bank. Romantic. But it had to be done. I will do a whole separate post on our anniversary celebration later this week.

We woke up Sunday morning to finish cleaning before Richard's family arrived. That's right, Richard's parents and his brothers drove all the way down from Wisconsin to Louisiana to visit us for the next week and a half. His grandparents also drove down from Kentucky. Once his family arrived we went and got lunch and after that we went to the park. Richard has two little brothers, who are 6 and 8 so they needed to get some energy out by playing at the park. So Richard, his other brother (who is 17) and I took our puppy to the dog park to run. And while we were there Paisley puppy hurt her feet so we ended up having to put socks on her feet so we could keep them clean. She was not thrilled about this situation.

Then we went to dinner at a local place called Copeland's and they have a spinach and artichoke dip with fried bow-tie pasta that was amazing.

We had a pretty busy weekend and are going to have a busy next few weeks. Cannot wait for New Orleans on Thursday!
