Pensacola Beach

You may notice things looking a little different around these parts. I have spent a lot of time in the last two days trying to update my blog and understand how to fix things. Still working on it so it is not perfect yet.

Anyway, I think now is a good time to review our weekend beach trip!

I took a half day at work so that we could get to the beach by dinner. I went home and my husband, the dog and I all headed out for the 6 hour drive to the beach.

Once we got there, we settled into the hotel and met up with our friends, Evan and Claire, we went straight to dinner. We went to a place called Hemingway Island Grill. It was perfect for us because they have both seafood for the boys and non-seafood for the girls. The boys ordered the chef's special of some kind of fish that I do not remember along with a lobster bisque. I even tried some of the lobster bisque and it was not bad considering I do not like seafood. I ordered a pasta dish with alfredo sauce and peppers. It was delicious. We ended up spending a lot more than we intended to but hey we were on vacation.

After dinner, we walked along the beach and checked out the area a little bit. Then we headed back to the hotel and went to bed.

We woke up Saturday morning, ate breakfast and headed straight to the beach. It was a little rainy when we got there so we decided to eat lunch near the ocean while it was not the nicest outside.

It worked out perfect because by the time we were done with lunch it had warmed up and we were able to lay out on the beach. It was a little cloudy, but that made it not quite as hot so we were happy with it.

We basically just hung out by the beach until close to dinner time. Richard and I went deep into the water to catch some waves. It was fun just to relax and do nothing.

After the beach we went back to the hotel and got ready and then headed to dinner. We went to Sideline Sports bar and it had the typical bar food. After dinner, we went mini-golfing.

Evan and Richard had opposite matching outfits which was cute. I got two hole in ones because I am so amazing at mini-golf. Or maybe I was just lucky. We will never know. But I placed second out of the four of us and I beat Richard which is the important part. I think I have beat him every time we go so I am just keeping up with tradition.

We had to check out early on Sunday and since we had two dogs with us we could not do a whole lot with dogs in the car. So we headed over to the Dog Beach in town. It was actually a really cool place. They had an area of a lake that was fenced off so that the dogs could be off their leashes. Paisley had so much fun chasing the other dogs and chasing her ball. We have been trying to get her to swim by throwing her ball in the water and apparently all we needed was some competition. There was another dog there that would chase her ball too, so when we threw it in the water she would actually swim to get it so that she could bring it back. We were some proud parents watching her swim. She is the floating head on the left.

Then for lunch I got my Panera Bread fix and then we got ice cream after lunch.

Then we made the long trek home. Wow that was a lot of pictures. Sorry for the picture overload. We had so much fun getting away for the weekend and we are hoping to do it again!
