Newborn Equipment

I have been collecting items that I will be using to take newborn pictures. I have my first session today and I am very excited! Here is what I have so far

In the picture above I have:

  • Bean bag
  • Boppy infant pillow
  • Baskets
  • Heater
  • Hats and Headbands
  • Scarf to use as a wrap
  • Clips for my posing stand (pictured below)
  • Reflector
  • Small suitcase
  • Pee pads
  • Faux wood floor
  • Blankets
I also had my wonderful husband make me a background stand out of PVC pipes. I made the design and he put it together. Here is what it looks like

Here it has a blanket on it.

After I am finished taking pictures I am going to attempt some new editing techniques that I found on Pinterest. I love using Pinterest! It is a great way to keep all of my ideas that I find organized.
Here is my Pinterest. I have an entire board dedicated to photography.

Pregnancy Announcement

Well I am excited to announce that my sister is pregnant! We took a picture to announce her pregnancy.

After some editing in photoshop I made this picture perfect. I was excited to put my new knowledge of photoshop to work! I have been reading the book "Photoshop Elements 10- the missing manual." I love this book. I have learned so much and I am only halfway through it. I hope to continue to learn as I take more pictures. Ever since learning about my sister's pregnancy, I have been reading up on infant photography. I am happy to begin working in this new area of photography.

About Me

Welcome to my Blog! My name is Alecia. My husband's name is Richard. My favorite day so far is the day we said "I do" on August 6, 2011. I was born and raised in a suburb just south of Minneapolis, but in August 2012 we moved to northern Louisiana for graduate school. My husband is currently in a Ph. D. program and he loves every minute of it, but he is kind of a nerd like that (love you babe ). I, on the other hand, am still adjusting to moving from a huge city to a not-so-huge-there-is-nothing-here city. But I have always been one to look on the bright side of things. I have been forced out of my comfort zone and learned so much from moving away that I am grateful for.

My husband is the best thing that ever happened to me and I am still amazed most days at how well our lives blend together. Through our years of marriage we have learned each other's flaws and how to live with them, but have also inspired each other to be better in life. We are so much alike in many ways, but we are different enough to keep things interesting.

We have no children as of right now, but we do have our amazing puppy Paisley. I say puppy still, but she is almost five years old. She still acts like a puppy most days and yet she is the sweetest most affectionate dog I have ever met.

My family means everything to me. I have two sisters, one older and one younger. My sisters are two of the closest friends I have ever had. My older sister and her husband had a baby boy in October of 2012. I love him to pieces and am sad to have to see him grow up from a distance.

My life changed dramatically on July 11, 2013. My mom passed away after being involved in a motorcycle accident. She was a huge part of my life and I miss her every. single. day.

As life goes on, I have learned to always look on the positive side of things. Life is short so it needs to be lived to the fullest. I want to enjoy each and every moment in life. I believe in finding happiness in the little things, and choosing to have a bright and colorful attitude.

I love pasta, traveling, reading, DIY projects, adventures, anything crafty and photography. My dream is to become a professional photographer and I am actively working towards that dream. This blog is here to document all of our new adventures as we travel through this thing called life.
